Text-to-911 Service
QuadCom also supports Text-to-911 for AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon customers living in or traveling through its service area. This includes the Villages of Barrington Hills, Carpentersville, East Dundee, Sleepy Hollow, South Barrington, and West Dundee.
This service is especially valuable for residents with speech or hearing impairments or in situations where making a voice call is unsafe.
Important Guidelines for Text-to-911
- Voice is Best: Always call 9-1-1 if possible. Texting should only be used when calling is not an option.
- Emergencies Only: Use this service strictly for emergencies requiring Police, Fire, or EMS response.
- Provide Location Immediately: Include your exact location and nature of the emergency in the first text. Dispatchers cannot automatically determine your location from a text message.
- Avoid Abbreviations/Slang: Use clear, plain language.
- Expect Limitations: Due to routing issues, some texts may not reach QuadCom. If your text fails, you may receive a bounce-back message from your carrier. If you do not receive a reply quickly, place a voice call to 9-1-1.
Non-Emergency Assistance:
QuadCom also handles non-emergency requests for police assistance 24 hours a day. These should be directed to:
