Fire Grid Sign Information
Barrington Hills residents receive fire protection and emergency medical services from one of the following five agencies listed below. Because the Village uses a rural addressing system, each fire protection district has adopted a standardized fire grid addressing system to help emergency responders locate your home quickly.

Posting Fire Grid Signs
Every residence is required to display a fire grid sign near the entrance of the driveway.
- Single residences: Place the sign close to the driveway entrance.
- Shared/common driveways: A sign must be posted at the street, clearly designating the range of addresses on the common drive. Additional signs should then be placed at each private drive.
Importance of Maintaining Fire Grid Signs
The Police Department also relies on the fire grid system to efficiently locate addresses during emergencies. To ensure your home can be located quickly:
- Keep your sign clearly legible at all times.
- Make sure it is visible and unobstructed by snow, vegetation, or landscaping.
- Correct or report any issues immediately.
