On Sunday August 16, 2026, at approximately 4:57am, Barrington Hills Police Officers responded to Hawthorne Lane for a 9-1-1 call reporting that an unknown person had entered the residence.
The occupant was in the bathroom when they heard noises and were confronted by an unknown subject. The subject was described as a male wearing all dark clothing and a mask.
During the confrontation, the occupant of the home screamed and yelled while attempting to close the bathroom door. The occupant was not physically injured, and the subject then fled the residence.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the subject broke a window to gain entry to the residence. It appears that the subject had searched the master bedroom and it is currently unknown what if anything is missing from the residence at this time.
